ERC Visits the Floating Solar PV Project

BAY, LAGUNA - The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) visited the pilot test bed of floating solar photovoltaic (PV) developed by SunAsia Energy, Inc. in FPV Island, Barangay San Antonio, Bay, Laguna on 27 February 2023.

The 13.2kWp capacity of the floating solar PV is currently powering the San Antonio Barangay Hall which includes the barangay’s Health Center, Mid Wife Office, Day Care Center, Session Hall, Police Station, and basketball court. Registered also under the net metering program, the excess production allows the barangay to enjoy average savings of PhP13,000 from their regular monthly bill of PhP24,000 prior to the said installation.

“The solar panels helped in growing the zooplankton moina or fish food in the area, thereby increasing fish supply.” Barangay Secretary Geralyn Panisales Villarino shared with ERC Chairperson and CEO Monalisa C. Dimalanta.

“Site visits are learning opportunities for our technical team. The experience allows us to enrich the perspectives of energy regulation in the face of emerging and evolving technologies as well as the contribution to promoting sustainability in the host community.” ERC Chairperson and CEO Dimalanta emphasized.
