A world class and independent electric power industry regulator that equitably promotes and protects the interests of consumers and other stakeholders, to enable the delivery of long-term benefits that contribute to sustained economic growth and an improved quality of life.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) lauded the Grid Management Committee (GMC) for its information dissemination drive for the 2016 Edition of the Philippine Grid Code in a series of roadshows all over the Philippines, which kicked off in Baguio City last 09 March 2017. This campaign sought to allow power industry stakeholders to have a better understanding on the intent of the most recent version of the Code.

In his message, ERC Chairman and CEO Jose Vicente Salazar congratulated GMC “for its painstaking work in updating the Philippine Grid Code to be more responsive to current realities in the electric power industry, including harmonizing the Code with existing industry rules and regulations.”
Pursuant to ERC Resolution No. 22, Series of 2016, the newest version of the Grid Code was published on 21 November 2016 and took effect on 05 December 2016.

The GMC, which monitor the energy industry’s compliance with the provisions of the Grid Code, is also charged with informing the electric power industry stakeholders on the major changes incorporated in the Code.

“This is valuable work because the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Grid is a first priority for all industry stakeholders,” Salazar said in a message for the North Luzon leg of the Roadshow.
For the next three (3) months, GMC will be going all over the country to meet with energy stakeholders and educate them on the relevant provisions in the Code. GMC will be visiting the following areas:

a.    South Luzon - Tagaytay City [17 March 2017]
b.    Central Visayas – Cebu City [07 April 2017]
c.    Western Visayas – Aklan [20 April 2017]
d.    North Mindanao – Cagayan de Oro [12 May 2017]
e.    South Mindanao – General Santos City [31 May 2017]
