Notice to all Distribution Utilities on the Regulatory Updates Conference on Feb. 16-17, 2011 [Archive-118]
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will hold the Regulatory Updates Conference on February 16 to 17 (conference proper, Wednesday & Thursday) and 18 (travel time, Friday), 2011 at the Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Convention Center, Aklan.
The Conference aims to:
1. To update and educate the DU Regulatory Compliance Officers (RCOs) & Consumer Welfare Desk Officers (CWDOs) of the new promulgations through lectures and discussions of basic concepts, issues & resolutions reached in public consultation proceedings;
2. Organize the RCOs & CWDOs into formal grid or smaller sub-grid groups for regular planning, execution, monitoring and compliance activities; and
3. Conduct a strength-weakness-opportunities-threats (SWOT) scan exercise towards a more effective conduct of future DU RCO & CWDO conferences.
Along with the SWOT exercise, an organizational development (OD) innovation is proposed to be held. Basing on the SWOT exercise of 2009, the grouping of the DUs into these geographic sets: (1) North and West Central Luzon; (2) South and East Central Luzon; (3) Visayas; (4) Mindanao; and (5) SPUG will be formalized. Two (2) sets of RCO & CWD group officers, namely: a president, vice president, secretary and spokesperson will be elected. The main purpose of the groupings is to strengthen formal and informal lines of information-education-communication -coordination (IECC) among the RCOs. The elections will be facilitated by the ERC.
The Conference delegates from your DU must be the Regulatory Compliance Officer (RCO) and his alternate, the Consumer Welfare Desk Officer (CWDO) and his alternate, and/or other top level officials (President, General Manager, Finance Head). A minimum of four (4) delegates is required.

The registration fee is set at PhP6,000.00 to cover the costs for the venue, meals (3 snacks & 2 lunches), the conference training kit, and incidental expenses. Early birds or those who will register on or before 18 January 2011 (Tuesday) will enjoy a discounted rate of PhP5,500.00 per participant. K-KERC was able to negotiate a special room rate for participants who will avail of room accommodation at the Boracay Regency Hotel.
This activity’s main logistics coordinator is the ERC Planning and Information Service (PIS) - Public Information Division (PID). The lead event organizer is the Kooperatiba ng Kapisanan ng mga Kawani ng ERC (K-KERC).
