ERC to Hold an RCO Conference for Generation, Transmission and Supply Sectors players
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is holding a national conference for the Regulatory Compliance Officers (RCOs) of companies in the generation, transmission and supply sectors on 03 December 2008 (Wednesday). It will be held at the Isla 2 Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City from 8:30 A.M. to 3:45 P.M.
This will be the Second National Conference of RCOs in the generation and transmission sectors while it will be the first (1st) for the supply sector. Expected to attend from the generation sector are the RCOs of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and the National Power Corporation (NPC). The RCO of the National Transmission Company (TRANSCO) and/or its concessionaire will represent the transmission sector whereas the supply sector will be sending the RCOs of the Wholesale Aggregators (WAs) and the Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES).
The conference aims to strengthen regulatory compliance by updating the RCOs on the issuances (rules and decisions, etc.) of the ERC. The undertaking is part of the ERC’s Continuing Regulatory Education for the Stakeholders (CREST) Program. The regulatory updates will be given by ERC technical experts. A guest speaker has also been invited to lecture on risk assessment and management.
“Industry players in the generation, transmission and supply sectors are urged to attend the RCO Conference. This is a good opportunity for open discussions, the sharing of concerns and regulatory education. The ERC seeks to improve regulatory compliance towards having a stable regulatory environment. The ultimate aim is the promotion and protection of the long-term interests of electric power industry stakeholders, foremost of which is the consumer’s. ” ERC Chairperson and CEO Zenaida G. Cruz-Ducut said.
The ERC has sent individual invitations for this conference through the Philippine Independent Power Producers Association (PIPPA) which volunteered to help organize this conference.
