The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) honored Ms. Rosario Calderon, retiring Sr. Technical Adviser of the Energy and Environment of the United States International Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Philippines. An Award of Appreciation was handed by Chairman Rodolfo B. Albano, Jr. to Ms. Calderon on 30 August 2006 in the presence of the Commissioners and top officials of the ERC.
“The ERC recognizes that the success of several programs it introduced in furtherance of the objectives of the EPIRA and in improving the regulatory environment to effectively move the electric power industry into a competitive state for the benefit of the electricity consumers was boosted by the assistance of the USAID. Ms. Calderon played a key role in such a success,” Chairman Albano said. “She selflessly shared her invaluable time, talent and effort to help the country in its quest for reforms in the electric power industry through the programs of the USAID that she managed,” Chairman Albano added.
“The ERC thanks the USAID for appointing Ms. Calderon to help in the country’s power industry reform agenda. The officers and staff of the ERC found in Ms. Calderon the inspiration to aggressively work for the realization of the goals of the EPIRA,” Chairman Albano said.
Ms. Calderon also co-chairs the US bilateral agreement with the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) in promoting the power industry reforms, increased utilization of clean and indigenous fuels, improved energy efficiency and reduced vehicle emissions. She is set to return to her home base in the United States soon.
