ERC Prepares Distribution Utilities for Retail Competition
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will be conducting a Regulatory Compliance Seminar for Electric Cooperatives (ECs) in Luzon, specifically those with customers having at least one megawatt (1 MW) monthly average peak demand. Entitled “Are We Ready for Retail Competition?”, the seminar will be held on November 7, 2006 at the ERC Hearing Room, 15th Floor Pacific Center Bldg., San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
General Managers and Regulatory Compliance Officers of specific ECs are enjoined to attend said seminar in preparation for the implementation of retail competition and open access in Luzon. Said activity aims to ascertain the ECs’ readiness for open access, enhance ECs understanding of retail competition and their specific responsibilities, and identify concrete steps towards addressing weaknesses / problems that hinder ECs’ readiness for open access.
