ERC holds first National RCO Conference

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will hold the First National Conference for Regulatory Compliance Officers (RCOs) of Distribution Utilities (DUs) on May 3-5, 2006 at the Astoria Plaza, Escriva Drive, Ortigas Business District, Pasig City.

The conference aims to educate the RCOs of DUs on the regulatory issuances of the ERC to ensure full compliance by the DUs with such issuances. The ERC has observed that a number of DUs do not regularly comply with some of its regulatory issuances. These result in delays in some of the ERC's programs geared towards the realization of the reforms set forth in the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA).

"The ERC is adopting innovative measures to gear up the DUs for excellence in regulatory compliance. This will speed up the attainment of reforms envisioned by the EPIRA to ultimately bring quality, reliable, efficient, and adequate electricity service to the Filipino people at the most affordable cost, "ERC Chairman Rodolfo B. Albano, Jr. stated.

The three-day activity will culminate in the confirmation by the ERC of the appointed RCOs who are senior officials of their respective DUs. The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) headed by its General Manager, Mr. Wendell Ballesteros, assisted the ERC in organizing the event.
