CWD training for DUs kicks-off this month
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC)-trained Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) trainors will get a baptism of fire as bonafide trainors. This will happen when the first batch of CWD officers from different distribution utilities (DUs) convene at Oasis Hotel, Angeles City on March 20 to 22, 2006 to undergo CWD training. This training is mandatory to all CWD officers of DUs to hone them to effectively handle consumer complaints.
The Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) mandates the ERC to promote consumer interests by establishing its own permanent consumer complaint desk, in all DUs and other power service providers. As such, “the welfare of the consumers is well taken care of,” ERC Chairman Rodolfo B. Albano, Jr said.
The trainors who are responsible in guiding these CWD officers were selected by the ERC from among the representatives of different DUs in various trainor’s trainings conducted last year in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
“The ERC had gone through several challenges and is continuously facing a lot more for the success of the power reforms. It, however, recognizes that the full cooperation of the stakeholders is vital to achieve the common goal of the electric industry,” the Chairman concluded.
The second and third batch will be held simultaneously on April 5 to 7, 2006 at the Summer Place Hotel, Baguio City.
