ERC requires DUs to designate an RCO
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), through Resolution No. 4, series of 2006, now requires each distribution utility (DU) to designate a Regulatory Compliance Officer (RCO). The ERC, in its exercise of regulatory functions, issued the directive to make sure that the DUs can vigilantly monitor pertinent issuances of the ERC for their timely compliance.
The person designated must be an officer occupying a senior level position other than the General Manager (GM) or the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The name of the assigned RCO must be forwarded to the ERC not later than February 28, 2006 or ten (10) days after such designation has been made, whichever comes first.
“The ERC would like to improve the compliance of DUs to regulatory issuances through the RCO, thus, ensure that the best interests of other stakeholders are served well without delay. The ERC expects that DUs will now be more proactive in dealing with regulatory policies and directives,” ERC Chairman Rodolfo B. Albano, Jr. explained.
