ERC welcomes new Commissioner

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo recently appointed Rauf A. Tan, from Jolo, Sulu, as one of ERC’s new Commissioners. He replaces Commissioner Carlos R. Alindada whose term expired last June 2004.

Comm. Tan is a Certified Public Accountant with twenty (20) years experience in the electric power industry. His fields of specialization include finance, marketing, management, utility economics and privatization. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

Mr. Tan held an executive position at the National Power Corporation (NPC) for over fifteen (15) years. He was part of the team that conducted a study for the restructuring of the power industry and of the NPC privatization. Prior to his appointment, he worked as a consultant in the City of Olongapo and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA). He was formerly connected with an international consortium that specializes on power planning.
