Barin completes the roster of Commissioners


The Energy Regulatory Commission welcomed its new Commissioner in the person of Atty. Alejandro Z. Barin. He replaces Commissioner Leticia V. Ibay whose term expired in June of this year. “The Commission looks forward to working with Atty. Barin. He is sure to make a valuable contribution to the restructuring of the industry.” ERC Chairman Rodolfo B. Albano Jr. expressed.

Commissioner Barin is an esteemed lawyer who continues to manifest laudable competence in the practice of law and currently holds several positions in various private organizations. Along with serving as Chairman of the Board of Leyte Agri Corporation, Equitable Securities (Philippines) Corporation, and ZD Industrial Services, Inc., he is also a Member of the Board of Directors of General Milling Corporation and GMC Properties, Inc. He has likewise acquired distinguished experience as Partner in the Law Firm of Arroyo, Barin, Villanueva & Associates, and as Associate in the Law Firm of Macapagal, Alafriz, Mutuc & Associates. He has also served as Member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Airlines.

A member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Atty. Barin obtained both his Associate in Arts degree in 1949 and Bachelor of Laws in 1953 from the University of the Philippines.

Commissioner Barin’s appointment completes once again the five-man Commission headed by Chairman Rodolfo B. Albano, Jr. The incumbent Commissioners are Engr. Jesus N. Alcordo, Oliver B. Butalid, and the recently-appointed Rauf A. Tan.
