ERC launches Text ERC project
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will launch its Text ERC project on the occasion of the second year anniversary celebration of the enactment of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001 to be held on June 27, 2003.
“Our electricity consumers could now reach ERC through texting via ordinary cell phones nationwide,” according to ERC Chairman Manuel R. Sanchez. “Even the consumers in the remote barrios could receive quick reply from ERC on their queries and complaints,” he added.
The steps are simple. The customer sends text message by keying in ERC and send to 2920. Either Globe or Smart users could use the technology provided by Bidshot Wireless Services.
ERC’s Consumer Affairs Service (CAS) is in charge with the implementation and monitoring of this program. CAS Director Marina C. Bugayong is expecting an increase in the volume of consumer queries and complaints her department will be receiving once the consumers become aware of the text ERC project.
The cost per text is P2.50 with one reply consisting of 180 characters.
