ERC intensifies drive vs illegal activities

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has intensified its drive to curb illegal activities in the electric industry in the light of increasing incidence of fake meter seals and meter test reports.

ERC Chairman Manuel R. Sanchez noted that “the success of the Commission to reform the electric industry relies not only on how well the policies, standards and regulations are defined/formulated, but more significantly, its immediate and uncompromising enforcement.”

To help heighten the Commission’s law enforcement capabilities, the ERC has just been made a member of the National Association of Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (NALECC). NALECC is currently headed by Philippine National Police Director General Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Jr., with heads of several national law enforcement agencies as members.

Chairman Sanchez expressed optimism that with ERC’s joining the NALECC, it is easier for the regulatory body to monitor violations and illegal activities.
