ERC holds public consultation on TRANSCO assets classification
06/25/2003

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recently held a public consultation to hear the comments and issues on the proposed guidelines to distinguish between the transmission and subtransmission assets of the National Transmission Company (TRANSCO). Under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (EPIRA), ERC is authorized to set the standards of the voltage transmission for this purpose.

The public consultation process provided a full opportunity for the electric industry and affected customers to provide their views on the assets distinction before ERC finalizes the guidelines. With the suggestions made by the participants, the Commission is confident that the guidelines can be redrafted in a manner that adequately reflects relevant interests.

The Commission anticipates that the final guidelines will bring about regulatory certainty for the customers and the distribution utilities that are interested to acquire subtransmission assets.
