ERC holds OATS public consultation

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is holding a three-day public consultation on the Rules, Terms and Conditions for the Provision of Open Access Transmission Service (OATS) at the ERC Hearing Room on May 12-14, 2003. Said activity serves as an avenue for the discussion of the responses, comments and suggestions by the electric industry participants that will be affected by the implementation of the OATS Rules. The holding of the consultative meeting is consistent with the Commission’s policy to make its regulatory processes transparent to the public.

In his opening remarks during the first day of the public consultation, ERC Chairman Manuel R. Sanchez assured the public that the Commission shall fulfill its mandate under Republic Act No. 9136, which includes the review and approval of the proposed OATS Rules.

Pursuant to the provisions of said Act, ERC shall ensure that NPC shall provide to all electric power industry participants open and non-discriminatory access to its transmission system.
