ERC issues COC to first batch of IPPs

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recently issued the Certificates of Compliance (COC) to the initial batch of generation companies, namely: (1) Cebu Private Power Corporation (CPPC) which operates a 70 MW Bunker C-Fired Power Plant located in Carbon, Cebu; (2) East Asia Utilities Corporation (EAUC) in Lapu-lapu City which runs a 46 MW Bunker C-Fired Power Plant; (3) East Asia Diesel Power Corporation (EADC) with a 109 MW Bunker C-Fired Power Plant located in Navotas, Metro Manila; (4) Duracom Mobile Power Corporation (DMPC) which runs a 133 MW Bunker C-Fired Power Plant in Navotas Metro Manila; (5) Angeles Power Inc. (Calibu Power Plant) which operates a 30 MW Dual-fired Diesel Power Plant in Bacolor, Pampanga; and (6) ORMAT Leyte Co., Ltd. in Tongonan, Leyte with a 53.9 MW geothermal power plant. Under Republic Act No. 9136, generation companies are required to secure said certificate from the ERC.

ERC is mandated to ensure that all generation companies comply with the Philippine Grid and Distribution Codes (PGDC), the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) Rules, the Cross Ownership and Market Share Limitations and the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), among other requirements.
