ERC honors its past and present Chairpersons

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recently honored its past and present leaders during the Unveiling of Portraits of the Past and Present Chairs of the institution at the ERC head office in Pasig City.

“This occasion is to recognize the services of all the Chairpersons of the Energy Regulatory Board/Commission. It is through their effort, determination and guidance that this institution has become alive. It is not only through their vision, but their practice of good leadership that this organization has become what it is today,” said Chairman Manuel R. Sanchez.

Present during the occasion were Hon. Ponciano Mathay, who served from 1971-1988; Hon. Rex Tantiongco, who served from 1990-1996; Hon. Melinda Ocampo, who served from 1998-2001; and Hon. Fe Barin, who served from 2000-2001. Each of them thanked Chairman Sanchez for the honor and recognition, shared some of their experiences during their term, and encouraged the ERC employees to do their best in fulfilling their functions and in making the institution strong.

Hon. Marcelo Fernando, who served from 1988-1990, was not able to come due to sickness, while Hon. Neptali Franco, who served from 1997-1998, also did not make it because of a meeting in Masbate. Nevertheless, Hon. Franco sent a written greeting to the leaders and present employees of the institution.

Also present during the occasion were representatives of the late Hon. Bayani Faylona, namely: Onofre Barin, his best friend; Luningning Faylona-Lacuna, his older sister; and Atty. Donato Faylona, his nephew.

“We are delighted that most of our past leaders were able to come despite their busy schedule. This simple occasion instilled in us a sense of our past and inspired us to recommit ourselves to achieving our vision as an institution,” said Chairman Sanchez.
